Project Summary
Gallin was hired to build out 120,000 SF of offices and call centers at the Brooklyn Army Terminal. This involved the installation of a new electrical backbone for a state-of-the-art communications system to be used throughout the facility. To achieve this desired level of technical capacity and also transform the compartmentalized space into an open working environment, the construction team had to create penetrations through 14-inch thick concrete walls and 2-foot thick concrete floor slabs in a structure originally designed as a secure military arms depot. A rooftop chiller system and emergency generator with several miles of exposed pipe were required to support the upgraded electrical load. The project was fast-tracked, with actual construction, planning and design taking place concurrently. |
